Branding

In today's ever growing, short attention span society brand is everything. The weird way the world works is that if you do something good enough people will take note and market it for free. Especially in the world of Social media that exists with things like sharing. But what you present on social media and the connections you have represent your brand. And brand says a lot about you these days. Before first impressions were everything and the gateway to getting to know someone, that first interaction or a referral from another friend and/or associate. But in todays society you can almost fully get to know someone before you eve meet them in person, if you ever even decide you need or want to. Not to say those first impressions aren't important, they just aren't as important because with the swipe of our fingers information is ready and accessible to us.

With that being said as a society we need to control our brand. Knowing what people see when they look for you is important. Have you ever googled yourself? I have and after some branding training and SEO optimization I learned to control the narrative. I suggest this to every professional out there.
Business branding and personal branding are two different ball games and should be approached in different manners. The brand of the person who owns the business is just as important as the business.

One thing I recommend is checking out LinkedIn and searching #personalbrand or #businessbrand. It gives some good insight on how you may want to portray yourself. Your brand goes as deep as your profile picture, your photos, your posts, where you are from, your interest and much more. Be cautious of your brand and own it.
Personal branding is about managing your name — even if you don’t own a business — in a world of misinformation, disinformation, and semi-permanent Google records. Going on a date? Chances are that your “blind” date has Googled your name. Going to a job interview? Ditto.

A good example of a good brand is the artist Cardi B. She may not be the greatest lyrical artist and some people believe she doesn't make good music (p.s. I love her music) but people know about her and she has gotten so far in life because her brand is a gold mine. How she carries herself and what she says on and off camera have drawn people to her and people buy into it everyday. She know what she wants to represents and owns it.

Moral of the Story is if you are not aware of what your brand is, I would suggest you take a look at your social media and everything visible to the internet and ask what is a common theme amongst these different sites. If you like it own it, if not change it
