More Buildings in Baltimore
Two days ago I was reading the Baltimore sun and came across this article: http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/real-estate/
And it had me thinking about a couple of different things.
1. There have been an extraordinary amount of new buildings downtown, and lots of renovation.
2. I wonder with all these big buildings being built is this driving the market up or down?
3. Is this private funding or state/government funding
4. What does this mean for the future of the city
Some of these questions can be answered upon further research but coming across this article just put me in a state of wonder. It is pretty vague and by pretty I mean there are no details other than the title to go off of. So why? I wonder what the purpose of this article was. Was it to drive questions? Leave people wondering? Because of its simplicity, I am left to ponder and make assumptions that will force me to research.
At the end of the day I do wonder why the focus on downtown? IS it for tourism? Bring more dollars from the high income areas to fund low income areas? Then it makes me wonder about home owners who have vacant houses and question their sense of urgency. Baltimore City has many VACANT homes and a lot of people don't realize that they just belong to people who aren't doing anything with them. People who live in NY, or Chicago, or LA and just have properties to forget about. But those vacant houses mean something different to someone who doesn't have that knowledge. It could mean a new spot to sell drugs, take drugs, sex trafficking, kill somebody and much more.
This is where my mind goes when I see new development downtown and little effort from investors within the city. I think a grand effort of restructuring should be made by investors to step their games up and get more serious about helping communities. Since the only goal by an investor is to profit, that profit is universal, and should bleed out to the other neighborhood. I know that is why I am doing it.
(This movement should be televised)
Again my mind wanders.
Another conversation that can be had in regards to servicing your community. Lets get investors of Real Estate in the topics of these discussions and out to the public so we can address the issues that some of them have left us to deal with.
